My daughter went out one day with some friends and while she was out, she dropped her iPhone. The screen cracked and she cried when it happened. I looked online to see what the cost was to fix the iPhone and shared that information with her. She decided that the cost was too much for her and reasoned that the phone still functioned with a cracked screen. I even offered to give her half the money to fix it, but she still did not fix it. She continued to use the phone for months with the screen completely shattered. She got used to seeing pictures of people and even herself broken and shattered.
After many talks with her, I decided to get her screen replaced. We got the phone fixed. She picked up the phone and said, “My phone looks like new.” The screen was clear of all cracks and flaws. The first thing she did was take a selfie and she was able to see how beautiful she looked. We can get used to seeing things through a dim distorted glass or a broken lens. If this goes on for too long, we can somehow think that’s the way things are supposed to be. Having a shattered lens and view of ourselves can give us a warped and broken perspective. It will be hard to receive new beautiful things when you don’t believe you are worthy of them. Doubting yourself can haunt you and make you feel less than when you are more than.
Breaking a mindset is never easy. Real change takes commitment and work. Before you can make progress, your previous limits have to be removed. To remove the boundaries, you will need to be honest with yourself and unafraid to explore the issues that could be holding you back. This will aid you in seeing and believing that you are worthy of the next level.
